Yep.... do a SELECT into a Temp Table using the date criteria and capture just the row numbers to delete. Then, do a joined delete between the temp table...

Perhaps it's also time to do a couple of other things...
1. Re-evaluate what the clustered index is.
2. Optimize the code to be a bit more bullet proof.

Heh... don't over look what's in Books Online. If you lookup "DBCC SHOWCONTIG" and scroll down, you'll find a section with the following label...

Heh... ROW_NUMBER from SQL Server 2005+ would certainly make this easy. But, this is 2k so we have to go back to brute force every once in a while.
