I guess my question would be... why do they want to build the 3 tables just to do a report? Personally, I wouldn't let such table creation to occur....

I do agree not allowing xp_cmdshell makes security tighter.There is simply no way to actually disallow xp_cmdshell.

The one reason I can think of to shrink database files is so that you could restore to a smaller machine in the case of an emergency or your copying...
