I'm not so sure I'd be too quick to dismiss the issue as SQL Server. It sounds like it could be bad parameter sniffing. Especially since clearing the procedure cache...

You may think there's enough space, but SCCM disagrees, although it may be a default message meaning "something went wrong." Double check the server you're running it on to see...
