Modify the database. Anything else you do is going to be bandaid that creates technical debt. Technical debt, like any kind of debt, adds up and will disable you eventually....

Also no experience with Asigra backup.
However, I can tell you one thing about ANY third party backup, make them do a restore. Make them do a point in time restore....

The plan is stored before execution completes, but it's stored just before execution starts. You're trying to capture the plan before execution. There's no way to do that without running...

Since you're on SQL Server 2012, have you tried using extended events to capture query metrics? They're not free (nothing is, TANSTAAFL always applies), but they are much lower cost...
