What I outlined is pretty much it. Covering is more attractive. Adequate keys is attractive. Other than that, not sure what else to add. Make sure the statistics are updated...

UPDATE STATISTICS all alone isn't going to affect your PLE. It's the changes that may result to execution plans when they have different (hopefully more accurate) row estimates that can...
