You can Use the following Query to Shrink the Log File.USE DatabaseName

DBCC SHRINKFILE(<TransactionLogName>, 1)
BACKUP LOG <DatabaseName> WITH TRUNCATE_ONLY

Do your initial restore WITH REPLACE. That tells SQL that you're happy to overwrite the existing database.

Why the hell don't you have a backup?
Try setting the DB to emergency mode. If that gives any errors, post them here. Don't try anything else for the moment.

Yes, Truncate is depricated in SQL Server 2008 as said by Steve. You can check tons of articles and blogs on this on the internet.
