Could be corruption, could be that someone killed the session (it gives the same error). If you suspect corruption, do not restart SQL until you've checked for it.

Sure, as long as they're all WITH NORECOVERY and no new full backup was taken anywhere in the 'chain'. Generally one wouldn't do that, they'd restore the last diff and...
