    Also, the (+) is something I have never seen.

    Same as SQL's old join syntax. Table1.Column1 *= Table2.Column2. Oracle syntax is Table1.Column1 (+)= Table2.Column2

    sysdate is the Oracle function...

    Jared, Thanks. The + just concatenates the character values, PL/SQL uses || so I get the things like that.

    master's recovery model is always simple, regardless of what the actual database setting value is set to. It cannot ever have log backups taken or restored

    As you suggest, our database schema doesn't change that frequent, so I could turn back the system database backup files to once or twice a week.

    lets say the script has to deal with 7GB of data and the RAM is 4GB. Server has to read pages involved for those 3GB of data...
