WHS appears to have two target audiences:
1) Novice users.
2) Experienced people (whether IT professionals or not) with no time.
(I have ignored business use that I read somewhere, somewhen)

WHS is software from Microsoft, however, there are some appliances based on WHS that you plug in and go. I don't know much about the appliances as I got WHS...
