expletive deleted.  They gave me the wrong server name.  The SQL Server is standard edition, so Auditing won't work.

  • RE: Audit anyone

It's very likely it's an application bug.  However the app is not audited.  Luckily it is running in enterprise edition.

  • RE: SQl server 2012 dev edition to enterprise edition

Thanks for the information.   As I said, our existing installation is development edition and we wish to upgrade to enterprise.

  • RE: SQL Server 2012 Build List

    Steve:  Just a quick question.

Our sql server build is 11.0.6251,  A vendor requested we apply 2 hotfixes.  The builds are 11.0.3321 and 11.0.2332.
    I believe they are included...

  • RE: Stranger security problem

I can't believe it.  The old server name is still present.   But the new server name is present when connecting.  Confusing.  Nice to get this resolved.

  • RE: parallel installation of SQl Server,

No, some mitigating factors forced us to cancel this project.  We decided it was best to do the 2016 install on a small separate VM.

  • RE: parallel installation of SQl Server,

    I read this:
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql/sql-server/install/work-with-multiple-versions-and-instances-of-sql-server

And yes we want a new sql2016 instance on that server.  If the upgraded components are maintained separately as you suggest, that is good...

  • RE: parallel installation of SQl Server,

I'll do a full backup.   Certain components will be upgraded to SQL2016 and there is a risk this will affect the application. It is a VM but we don't want...

You see I want to be certain I don't corrupt the sql2008 environment when I install sql2012.

  • RE: parallel installation of SQl Server,

Good news.   We install the core components on the C drive and the database instances on separate partitions.   The SQl 2008 instance is already in place.
