Connection looks ok. I notice you're missing the "Set" in front of .activeconnection = connection. Do you have error handling turned off when you test this? If that doesn't help...

If you have the msdb.mdf you can attach it to an existing server. Just detach the existing one (the new one created in this case) and reattach the old one....

I havent tried restoring a 7.0 master to 2000. Might work, worth trying. We have several articles and posts here on the site about moving logins.

Thats an interesting question. Dont know the answer, will have to look some. SQLMaint executes the plans, dont think (but not sure) it plays a part in creating the plan....

Possibly you could save all of them out as VB code, do a search/replace to fix, then execute each to create a new version. You'll lose text annotations doing it...

Usual options are replication and log shipping. For replication you can choose any of the three types, generally its either transactional or merge. I like transactional for its simplicity.
