You have to build it dynamically. Can't remember the cause or the reference but that first use statement will get executed every time.

I would not update maintenance plans, that belong to a 2005 instance, from SSMS 2008. An upgrade to the maintenance plan may be attempted. Otherwise, I use SSMS...
