90% of the differences between 2000 and 2005 are things that 2005 does better, but there are always some things that will run slower.

That third argument to CONVERT ("8" in your example) controls the formatting of the date and time. Check out the Books-OnLine article "CAST and CONVERT" for a complete list...

It depends on what severity the error is.
IIRC, if the severity is 16 or greater, and there is no error-handling, then the session is terminated and any outstanding transactions are...

I implemented something like this several times in SQL sever. You cannot use Database mail for this, you will have to use SQL Server Mail (which Is still available...
