    Likely that's exactly the point, to tell what version a detached DB came from so that you know what version to attach it to.

    There's a lot of things that get left behind during un-installs. I've never unistalled anything from a cluster, I would consider it bad practice.

    Also, I think backup compression is available in R2 standard, but only in RTM/SP's enterprise. That is a big selling point.

    I'm just doing an installation from MSDN, but from someone's perspective who has not touched OLAP in 7 years, I think Central Management is supposed to be the largest difference.
