Yukon DTS packages

  • This year at the Tech-ed Africa a guest speaker said "There are 300 Engineers re-writing Yukon DTS packages"

We are creating a new 64 bit partition on one of our Unisys boxes to prepare for Yukon next year.

Has any one read up on the Yukon DTS packages?

Does it support 32 bit DTS.

I need DTS as my main datasourcres are not SQL Server

I wanted to use SQL Server 2000 64 bit in the mean time, but after reading the SQL 2K 64 bit only supports 32 bit DTS Packages.

This does not suit me as my 32 bit machine is taking too mutch strain already.

  • Not sure about all the changes, but we have an article coming in the Jan issue of SQL Server Standard (http://www.sqlserverstandard.com/). Not that helps you internationally, but maybe we'll get some content on the site.

Unless you'll allow international subscribers to backorder, I would love to see all the content available on either of the websites.

    Hope this helps

  • We're looking at ways to do this. International is a challenge as is the print v web model.

  • Hi,

I have made a decision to add 4 more processors to one of my 32 bit partitions and create a new 64 bit partition with Datacenter 2003 as the platform. I will install SQL 2000 64 bit on the new partition.

My DTS packages will run on the up-scaled 32 bit partition.

Then late next year I will be ready to upgrade to YUKON on the 64 bit partition.

I have the money in my budget now and I don’t want’ to be faced with the budget cuts I have for next year.

The YUKON DTS packages are 64 bit (this is my guess after reading the documentation)

Even if the YUKON DTS packages are 32 bit it is very much worth the while to have Yukon.

    Andy.
