XP Hibernation = Replication Killer?

  • All, I have several XP Pro msde subscribers repl'ing to a Sql2kSP3 pub that fail to restart synching when waking up from hibernation (ie: closing the lid on a laptop with deliberate power settings).  I am unable to restart the process via EntMgr when this condition is experienced.  Manually restarting the services doesn't fix the issue either . The XP system must be completely restarted to return the process to normal

Has anyone else experienced anything goofy like this?

Thanks in advance for any feedback!

  • To be honest. If this is a production Database I wouldn't even contemplate using SQL on a Windows XP Desktop, nor would I contemplate configuring replication on a MSDE platform.

You have to remember, MSDE is a testing platform as far as I'm concerned.

Obvioulsy, if you had this on a server that does not have the hibernation setting on the operating system wouldn't be a problem.

    Kindest Regards,
