Would some like to summarize the difference between a registered SQL Server and a linked SQL Server?
I did not notice the top was truncated without notice.

A very short summarization would be that a 'registered server' is a link between your client tool and a SQL Server. (ie Enterprise Manager and a server), while a 'linked server' is a link between a SQL Server and a OLE DB datasource (ie SQL Server and another SQL Server, other DB of other brand or datasource in general)
BOL (Books On Line) has a deeper description and overview of the linked server concept.
