What I need want to know is if SQL Server 2005 express will run on windows 2000 server? If so, what's the 1st thing to do after a successful install to begin using it. Thank u in advance (if I get a reply!)

We will not know for certain until the product goes RTM.
My understanding is that SQL2005 is dependant on .Net framework V2, which in turn needs W2003 SP1 or XP SP2. Also, if you want to upgrade an existing SQL2000 instance to SQL2005, you will need to have SQL2000 SP4 installed.

Actually, I did eventually find out w2kserver will work as long as it has SP4, whcih I do. That being said and everything is installed correctly, I cannot connect to the bloody thing!
