2) 2008R
3) 2012

2008. Since it touches on that, and you won't be able to use 2008-only features in any lessons/examples, if you use SQL 2005 with it. I don't think there are any 2005-only features that won't run correctly in 2008. So 2008 is where I'd go with that particular book.

I would probably go with 2008. This book is somewhat out of date but the basics don't really change that much. There are a few new additions in 2012 that might make that more appealing as a place to start learning.
