where to start learning and understanding the scripts for automated jobs

    Hello All,

    I have recently started my carrier as a jr DBA and trying to understand and learn the scripts written for Backups, restores, index defragment etc. I would like to know where can I start to learn this scripting? Iam very much interested to know this scripting as soon as possible.

    You can use the GUI to run a backup or restore, but instead of clicking the final "OK", choose "Script to new window". This will generate the code that SQL runs, so you can see what your GUI options would have run.

    There are also numerous scripts here on this site for backups that you can go through, see how they work, experiment, etc.
