hi, a few years ago was at a very large company that bought a software product that documents lineage i think in much the same way a dictionary would but automatically. does anybody know what (if any) products on the market do that kind of thing and which is/are the best?

thx frederico. none so far. that large company put a lot of stock and $ (they tend to vet things pretty thoroughly and i want to leverage that initially rather than research from scratch) in that product so i think its worth seeing where the product is today and if they've (the software vendor) extended it into the more modern technologies like fabric and maybe even more legacy products like ssrs and ssas. the most important question for me is getting the NAME of product(s ) in that space...that might trigger my memory. i tried contacting a coworker i had there who knows the folks that oversaw use of that product. no luck and i dont want to overdo that kind of communication.

well then - if doing a quick google isn't good for you or your company enough why should we here do it for you? I found a few hits when I searched for it myself - and more extensive search could be made.
thx frederico, i use forums mostly to leverage other people's experience. i post on forums when i think its the best first path over ai and google. why have this forum otherwise?
