I have gone through database basics and T-SQL as well. But still I feel I am missing the point to be called an "Expert".
What certification path and learning sequence to follow to confidently call myself an expert?

Certification won't make you an expert! Experience is much more valuable.
I'm not actually sure what an expert is.

Expert is not something you call yourself (unless you want to look arrogant and cocky). It's something other people call you. It comes from lots and lots of experience, not book learning and certs.
