  Encryption can happen at many different levels.

  E.g the database encryption can be enabled , TDE , disk level encryption , Firmware etc

  the application can also encrypt data before sending it over the wire using SSL , or some kind of cryptographic service like those provided by RSA. What exactly are you looking for ?
