  Mind Over Machines, a Maryland-based IT consulting services firm with a sustained record of performance and growth in the federal and commercial markets, has an opening for a MS SQL Server  DBA in the  Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, DC areas.

   

  We need  self starters with strong verbal and written communication skills. Continued maintenance of skills required. The successful candidate will provide SQL Server Database Administration, Stored Procedure coding, DTS Package setup,   performance tuning, monitoring and other support for development and production databases in a distributed environment.

   

  Required Skills:

   

  *  5+  years for MS SQL Server DBA Experience 

   * Working knowledge of SQL Server 2005 tools like SQL Server Management Studio, SQL Server Profiler, SQL Server Agent, SQL Server Surface Area Configuration, Database Engine Tuning Advisor, BCP and Bulk Load

  * Strong knowledge in  Backup and Recovery

  * Experienced with researching, architecting, designing, securing and presenting advanced SQL architectures

   * Must be able to set priorities and organize multiple tasks with limited direction

   * Troubleshooting various database issues and T-SQL queries

   * Knowledge of other new features in SQL Server 2005, SQL Server Reporting Services will be a plus

  * Knowledge of Operating Systems like MS Windows 2003 Server and Windows XP Professional

  * Indexing

  * Execution Plans / Debugging

   *  Monitoring 

   *  Database Replication

   

  Preferred Skills:

  * Data Warehousing

  * Commercial consulting

   

  The candidate must also have strong problem solving skills and the ability to work well with a team. The candidate should possess a strong customer focus and be passionate about meeting customer needs. A BA/BA degree in Computer Science or a related technical discipline is preferred.
