@@version info Vs. serverproperty('productlevel')

  • After installing sp2 on an RTM test box (sql server 2005 rtm) the @@version reports differently than the serverproperty('productlevel').

In fact there is a conflict with the results back from (select @@version) and here it is:

    Microsoft SQL Server 2005 - 9.00.3042.00 (Intel X86)

    Feb 9 2007 22:47:07

    Copyright (c) 1988-2005 Microsoft Corporation

Standard Edition on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 1)

and we know, based on a list posted on SSC, that 9.00.3042 is indeed sp2 original hmmm:;)

Any ideas? The server has been restarted.

I am about to go ahead and continue with the sp3 installation!

By the way, does anyone know the KB number to the prerequisite to sp3 installation?

I will be looking for that anyway, but, if you happen to have it that would be great.

    thx

    Cheers,
    John Esraelo

  • The Service Pack 1 is referring to the Windows service pack level rather than the SQL Server service pack level. There isn't a service pack 3 for SQL Server 2005 (yet) although there have been loads of Cumulative Hotfixes, the latest is version 9 but 10 is out soon.
