Using SQL 2005 in conjunction with a Filtering/Reporting software. V.Help!!

  • I'm using SQL 2005 with a filtering/reporting solution called SmartReporter. This product allows me to view reports on filtered internet usage.

I have the ability to use SQL to store all of this data vs. the internal db that is offered with the product. To set this up, I just need to point to the address of the sql server and provide user credential(sql or windows) to allow for creation and access to the database.

After doing so, the smartreporter database gets created, however I cannot gain access to the database. Everytime I try running any report, I receive an error stating "database unavailable". I've re-installed the reporter software many times and find that not to be the issue. It seems to be something almost with permissions for accessing the database. I've seen this exact setup work in other environments.

Can anyone think of any particular reasons why the database would be created, but I could not view any data from the database?

I've tried both the sql and windows users and given them all of the 'server roles', but each time the database gets created, but I cannot access the data. Any help would be much appreciated!

  • Is it possible that this is not the proper sub-forum of the site for this type of issue?
