  When restoring a 856Mb SQL 2000 *.BAK file into my Microsoft SQL 2000 test environment I'm getting the following error message.

  "Internal inconsistency error occurred. Please contact technical support"

  Windows XP Pro machine SP2

  THus far the above error message has occurred on two system that I have attempted to restore the file to.

  Please can anyone help?

  Matthew,

  Sounds like you may have a bad backup file.  Check the error log and see if you have any more detail in there.

  The chances are though that you have bad backup and you're going to need to take another backup from which you can successfully restore.
