"Upgrade existing installation to a Clustered installation" is grayed out.

  • Hello

I want to upgrade my existing local unnamed instance of sql server to clustered installation. We're running SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition w/SP4 on Windows Server 2003 Enterprise Edition.

After running the installation program off the CD

I click Next, Local Computer and Next, upgrade and next, next,

Now on the "Existing installation" screen the option "Upgrade existing installation to a Clustered installation" is grayed out!

Any idea? Definitely same cd enterprise edition SQL 2K

    Thanks all,

    Zach

  • What is your SQL Server current version number? Check it from regsvr32.

  • 8.00.2039

    Thanks,

  • of course not having your dataf iles on the shared resource might be one reason you can't join a cluster. Duh!!!!

Would have been nice to have had a window pop and yell at me. Next time I'll know to look

    Cheers
