Updating data source for SSRS 2016 no longer allowing

  • A couple weeks ago I published reports and set up a data source on the SSRS 2016 reporting services.   Today I was trying to update the data source, but all the fields are grayed out and it will not let me update.  I even went into another folder and it is doing the same thing - I cannot update any data sources.  Any ideas?

If you go into site settings and check the security, are you a system administrator on the report server?
Did you also try opening IE by right clicking and doing Run As Administrator and trying from there?

  • I have seen this happen if I am impatient too.  Sometimes when I load up a data source, everything starts out greyed out and if I wait about 20-30 seconds (on our test systems, live is a lot faster) then the boxes become editable.

I expect that Sue's suggestion is likely more correct, but just another thing to try.

The above is all just my opinion on what you should do.
As with all advice you find on a random internet forum - you shouldn't blindly follow it.  Always test on a test server to see if there is negative side effects before making changes to live!
I recommend you NEVER run "random code" you found online on any system you care about UNLESS you understand and can verify the code OR you don't care if the code trashes your system.
