"Unspecified Error" while connecting to analsysis server

  I am trying to connect to analysis server from Microsoft excel.

  I gave the server name, user name and password and as soon as I click next it gives me error message sayin "unable to connect to server: unspecified error".

  I tried all the solutions in the web.sp3 are installed for both sql server and analysis server.

  when the user name with which I login is in OLAP administrators group i am able to connect.

  But If I login in as a different username and then in the username,password fields I give the earlier login details(The one in OLAP administrator group) , it gives me unspecified error.

  I think its always taking the windows login instead of taking the login I provide.

  Thanks in advance for any help.

  Are any of the users your trying to connect as (other than the olap admin) in database roles that have cube access?

  Try to install SP3a for SQL Server ... and install MDAC 2.7 SP1 on the client machine and see what is happened
