I have a brand-new server. It's loaded with Windows 2000 Server and ServerProtect, and it will only be used to host one instance of SQL Server 2000. My questions: Which services can I disable? Which applications can I uninstall? I want an absolute minimal box, primarily to reduce my security "exposure surface."
(I think there used to be a "best practices" list that talked about this, once, but I sure can't find it now.)
Thanks!

You can take a look at Microsoft's site. They have a book on Securing Windows 2000 Server. I'll be talking about the basic services you need in a later security article, but I haven't gotten it written yet in a suitable format.
