Hi,
Sorry for the long post but I tried to be thorough.
Here are the steps that I have done in order to resolve the error is get (Unable to start T-SQL Debugging. Could not attach to SQL Server process on .... ) :
I have created a SQL Server project using Visual Basic. It only have one file: test.sql that has only a select statement. This is the standard template from Visual Studio 2005. I attached a valid connection to SQL server 2005 on the server. The workstation is named Scully and the server is named Mulder.
I can ping the server and connect to SQL server using TOAD for SQL Server. Also when I explore the connection in Visual Studio using Server explorer, I see all objects that are there. I have select a SQL server authentification method with ‘sa’ and a valid password.
So far, I have made sure that msvsmon is running on the server. I also have followed the instructions for setting DCOM permissions as mentioned on http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/s7ahaxtd.aspx but they doesn’t seem to apply to what I see when running dcomcnfg. The workstation is Windows XP SP2 and the server is Windows 2003 Enterprise. The ports are open on XP as I first tried to debug the project. Visual Studio made sure of it. There is no firewall protecting the server. I cal remote access it using Remote Desktop.
The connection has the Allow SQL/CLR debugging option checked. I also have created an Hello World application using Visual Basic and I’ve been able to debug it locally.
Do you have any ideas ?
Thanks !
