Unable to read local eventlog

    Hi Gurus,

    I got an alert with the following error while monitoring

    Unable to read local eventlog (reason: The handle is invalid).

    The reasons, I could find are as follows:

    1. Probably the system event log got filled up and might be corrupted in the process.

    2. Somebody might have cleared the application log while SQL Server is running.

    3. It may be SQL Server error log rather than Windows error log.

    I would like to troubleshoot as follows:

    1. Setting the event logs to overwrite as needed.

    2. To reset the size limit and restart the system.

    3. To check startup parameter -e flag, path is existing, if so whether the account running the SQL Service is able to write and read.

    Are these sufficient to go ahead?

    Any guidance in this regard is highly appreciated.
