i have a server with name AUSYDNMEYSQ5P11.Its instance is DWH...Aliase name is AUDWH(forAUSYDNMEYSQ5P11) .But i am unable to connect to the server using alias that is AUDWH\DWH,however i can connect with AUDWHP01\DWH.How it can happen...from wer P01 came

Ask your network people whether there's a DNS alias set up on the DNS server. alternatively, have you checked your hosts file to see whether there's an entry in there?

On a default Windows installation (depending on the version), it's C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts. But you didn't need to ask me that - you could have just typed "hosts file" into your favourite search engine.
