  one of the things ive always wondered is what's the difference between tcp and udp... today's question was nice because it reminded me to ask... so what's the skinny on udp and tcp... whats udp used for as opposed to tcp, and what different characteristics does it have... also, is there a place i can go to learn more about it...

  Put it in a Postal scenario, TCP is like 'registered mail with a return receipt' and UDP is like 'regular mail' which doesn't guarentee dilivery.
