Hello everyone!
I hope I am posting this in the right area, please don't attack me if I'm not. ![]()
In the right hand corner of my task bar is a little CPU with a blank circle. When I click on that it says "SQL Server Service Manager" and it shows that I am not connected to the server. Now, I can go into the server and locate Word, Excel, ACT files, but I cannot print since this computer is not directly connected to the computer that has the printer. The printer cannot also be found on the server (that computer has the same CPU thing in the corner as well).
I'm confused as to what I need to do... our DBA will not respond and help me, so I am left with this problem all alone.
Can any of you help me with this? Thank you so much!!

The tray app is called Service Manager and its sole purpose is to tell you the status of various SQL Server services (such as the main engine and the SQL Server Agent). If you were to double-click on the icon, you'll see where you can specify the server. You aren't making a usable connection to SQL Server, though, you'll need a client tool like Query Analyzer or Enterprise Manager.
This has nothing to do with your ability to connect to a printer. If you have an issue there, you probably need to talk to your system administrators / desktop support staff.
