We have a dedicated backup Share that we have been doing our Backups to for years. Yeserday afternoon my TLOG backups failed with this message:
BackupDiskFile::CreateMedia: Backup device '\\KOCXRAID01\SQLBackup\KOCSQL01-TOWERPROD\Modify_Title_tlog_201009091500.TRN' failed to create. Operating system error = 53(The network path was not found.).
and
[Microsoft SQL-DMO (ODBC SQLState: 42000)] Error 3201: [Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]Cannot open backup device '\\KOCXRAID01\SQLBackup\KOCSQL01-TOWERPROD\TowerDB_tlog_201009091500.TRN'. Device error or device off-line. See the SQL Server error log for more details.
[Microsoft][ODBC SQL Server Driver][SQL Server]BACKUP LOG is terminating abnormally.
I immediately reran the job and it the TLOG backups finished successfully in a matter of seconds.
I can't confirm that there was any kind of Network problem or blip at that time and I have other servers that do TLOG backups to this same network device at the same time and none of the other backups from these other servers failed. Any ideas?

Sounds like just a quick network blip. It only has to be down for a few seconds while the backup job looks for that directory to throw an error.
Have you had any issues/failures since then? If not, I would just ignore it. I've had that happen on my network occasionally.

No problems since. Thank you for your insight!
