total row not totalling properly

    this sounds like such a beginners question but i have a report with a total row that isnt adding up

    all it is is a sum of the column

    any ideas what might be causing this

    there are no filters on the table at all

    Is the total greater or less than the sum?

    Are there any records in the dataset that are not included on the report?

    thanks for the reply

    the total is greater on the report than it should be, i have run a query using the ssrs query designer just returning the total with exactly the same criteria as the report and the total is the same as on the report, then if you add the numbers up manually it brings back a lower total

    i think this is obviously something a miss in the query or something and is probably very difficult for someone to find the problem without having full access to the report

    very annoying

    i shouldnt have really started this thread

    the groupings on the report were kind of clashing with the groupings on the query and it was bringing some weird results
