tools for load testing?

    For testing purpose, I am looking for some client tools that you can use to keep server busy by keep writing data to the database. Does anyone know some client programs for this purpose? Thanks.

    MS has a tool called LoadSim (I think) in the Back Office resource kit that will run scripts on up to 60 or so threads from a single client. Not fancy, but can be useful.

    There are load testing tools from Rational and Quest software, but they can be expensive. Some vendors also "rent" the tool for a test.
