Nice answer . Is there a way to run SQL Server using only Windows authentication in these kinds of situations?
Maybe I need to talk to these vendors.
Thank you.

I've found a number of vendors have limited or not well published support for windows authentication via a dedicated service account. Usually you have to work with them a little and spend some support contract hours before you get what you want to hear.
Then again, some say "no, and we won't."

Our application has to work in very small workgroups (non-domain), as well as in larger installations. Since we cannot rely on windows authentication to be available, we use SQL authentication. Hopefully this helps.
