We inherited source code and an application that appears to execute some third party utilities, specifically Checksum Transformation and Trash Destination. When opening the source code in BIDS on servers that do not have the Konesans “task and data flow pipleline components” loaded generic error appears such as:
Component with the name [2E42D4B-F8.......] could not be created because an error was encountered during its upgrade to the current version.

What is the best way to identify installations of these products on our current production server and get them visible in the BIDS toolbox when viewing the source elsewhere?
Our eventual goal is to better understand how these tools are used, implement them in the new environment, be able to migrate our source code in BIDS from a SQL Server 2005 environment to SQL Server 2008 R2, and finally deploy the packages that use the utilities.

You will need to install them on both locations, the server that the package will be running on and the machine used for development. I would assume the installer package handles everything right.
