I read the line leading into the commentary about Zune and it gave me pause. Steve alluded to SSC going to a subscription model where access to certain areas may require payment.
While we have talked subscription at various times over the years, we have no plans to charge here. At least none I'm aware of.
However I was thinking more along the lines of other outlets that might bundle their information into some group and change a subscription for access to all the information. For example, there's a site that does this for blogs and charges a minimal amount for some editorial service for the readers. I can see there being value here.
I also think there might be something here for training companies or someone that looks to produce high quality material. Charge a small amount as a subscription, let people see everything you have. They can only consume so much at a time.
