The North Star for the Year

  • I work in a consultancy that is a DataBricks partner and is focused on delivering data warehousing and AI solutions.  This is another platform for me and an opportunity to lean more heavily into the disciplines needed to make AI effective.

In some respects, it is like deja vu all over again.  There is a lot to learn and, as a consultancy, we all have to learn a great deal in not much time.  But much of what we already know applies in the new world too.  We can pre-empt many of the problems that inexperienced people will hit because, in our careers, we have found that the fundamentals either don't change or are very slow to change.

We have trodden in every turd and bear trap and know how not to make the same mistake twice.

  • I've been wanting to learn more about Databricks myself. The challenge, as always, is time.

I don't know about a North Star for the year, but I need to dig a bit more into my employer's product set, as I feel a little disconnected from the latest things they're doing. That's the current quarter goal.

Maybe I'll find a project that I can devote some time to and do a Lakehouse with some Databricks.
