The Googleplex

  • That was the first thing I thought of when I saw this picture. I would think you would want your data centers where there is the least risk of a natural disaster, like flooding.

  • The scale of the photo is deceiving, the Columbia river at the point the photo is taken is about a half mile wide, and the banks are between 20 and 30 feet high above water where the complex sits.   I for one would want to get the heck out of the region if there was a natural disaster or direct military attack big enough to breach the huge dam just upriver from the complex plus the 6 or so others upstream on the Columbia river.  There would be problems much bigger in the region than a little tech center flooding.
