The backup of the file or filegroup "CCT_MSCRM" is not permitted because it is not online

  • Interesting fact and partially related to your second suggestion, if I detach, copy and reattach the database to a different SQL server, I can back it up fine. So, I'm thinking there is something, somewhere within the SQL system tables which is returning a status of offline to the backup routine and it's not checking the database at all.

Where I go from here though, I haven't the foggiest!

Interesting, there could be another place besides the places we have asked you to check. Usually by checking those though - it can be determined and fixed.

Time (for me) to research some more

Call Microsoft. It sounds like this could be related to a bug.

  • All,

Thanks for the suggestions. In the intervening time we didn't really get anywhere with this (amongst other head scratching from MS and Partners) so we opted to reattach the database to a new server which instantly cured the problem.

Obviously this will bug me now until my grave, but in the end sometimes you run out of time!

    Cheers.
