I cannot get the maintenance plan to delete t-log backup older than 2 weeks . Backups end up filling my hard drives. We use SQL2000 sp2

Have you checked that the SQLAgent account has rights to delete? Check the log files for the maintenance plan for errors.

.bak files are being deleted, .trn files were not. It appears that any glitch with the transaction log backup stops deletion of .trn files, even if new files are being created. Much appreciated your help.
