System Databases

    Hi,

    I've just come across some of the system databases in my environment where they are set to a user account. I don't know how this was done but I'm trying to set it to sa. Is there anyway this can be done although I have read that it's not possible?

    Any advice much appreciated.

    You cannot change the owner of Master / Model / TempDB or the Distribution databases. The only system database that you can change the owner of is the MSDB database.

    Thanks for getting back, but we have model and msdb changed on 2 instances of 2005 and we don't know how these were done!

    Are the system databases in the default location or have they been moved to a different drive than the SQL binaries?
