Suggestions on effectively viewing the data of an output file from sqlcmd batch job

  • Hello --

I have a completed a script that queries a given database for changes, and utilizing the sqlcmd utility, I can generate an output file.

The file types that I have generated are .txt, .csv, and .html. The txt and csv formats do provide some form of organization to the data

that has been written to the file.

However, the spacing between the respective fields and/or columns makes viewing the data very tedious. Does anyone have a suggestion,

be it an application or other means, where the data can be formatted to be more legible?

    Thanks.

  • Open the csv file with excel.

Thank-you for your reply. I had initially tried opening the csv file in Excel, and that was where I encountered the large gaps that were hindering my reading the file.
