I've setup email notification for all my Maintenance jobs so that if the job fails, I get an email. I also want to be notified when the DB BACKUP is successful but NOT the Transaction Log backup.
Since my Transaction Log backups are every 4 hours, I don't want to be notified of these UNLESS there is a failure. But I'm getting notifications for all TL backups whether successful or not eventhough I have only selected to be notified for unsuccessful jobs.
What I'd like to ask is, can the Maintenance Plans be setup so that I get an email for every successful or unsuccessful DB backup but an email for only unsuccessful Transaction Log backups?
Also, I'd just like to state how poorly programmed the Notification userform is. When I'm in the Maintenance Plan on the Reporting tab, I click the "..." button next to "Email Report To Operator" the operator properties userform is shown. I then click the Notifications tab and select the Jobs option button. There is NO horizontal scroll bar? What the??
I can't see the full name of the Jobs. Cumon MS!

Hi, The maintenance plans ultimately create a job in SQL Server agent. First of all go to the Reporting Tab for the maintenance plan for the transaction log backup and uncheck Email report to operator. On the Notifications tab for the job itself ensure Email Operator is set to when job fails. Let me know how you get on. Rgds Derek
