    ...The real problem is that patterns that exist on the large scale DO NOT necessarily apply in any individual case...

    It is the application of, sometimes valid (but often not so please don't shoot me down!!!), generalisations of a group to an individual that can be deemed as belonging to that group that is invalid as the generalism is a tendency NOT an applicable fact. It is this misapplication that can be found in racism, sexism, ageism, etc. and many other unfair (and plainly wrong) instances.

    People who belong to group A might tend to be better at X.

    N might be categorisable as belonging to group A.

    We do not know how good N is at X.
